Huawei launches the Honor 7i with a 13MP swiveling camera
Chinese technology giant Huawei has launched a new smartphone – the Honor 7i. Under the hood, the handset comes powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 616 processor and 2 GB or 3 GB of RAM. The camera has a Sony 13MP BSI sensor with f2.
According to Huawei, Honor 7i’s camera is rugged ad should last for at least two year even if the user open it 132 times per day.
You can also stop the camera halfway through its flip from rear-facing to front-facing, enabling you to take photos with the subject straight ahead of you but leaving the phone’s screen – and your viewfinder – at an easy-to-see angle.
In terms of memory, it can have either 16GB or 32GB, but has a microSD card slot for expandable storage.
Its operating system is based on Android 5.1 Lollipop, with Huawei’s Emotion UI 3.1 layered on top.
The connectivity options bundled with the device include Bluetooth, GPS/ A-GPS, 3G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, and Micro-USB. Huawei has chose to go with a 13-megapixel sensor here (f/2.0 aperture), and you get Auto Exposure, Auto White Balance, Automatic Face Recognition and Auto Smile Shutter as part of the package as well. What’s different about the Honor 7i’s fingerprint reader is that it’s located on the side of the phone, not on the front or rear like most other devices.
The phone has a thickness of just 7.8mm, with a metal frame around the sides. 19,500) on all three mobile carriers.
The new Honor 7i is a typical mid-range handset, but it does come with one component that should set it apart from other devices in the same price range. Given Huawei’s focus on worldwide markets with the Honor sub-brand, it is likely we’ll see the Honor 7i heading to various countries in Europe and possibly India.
The smartphone is already up for pre-order and will be available on store shelves in the beginning of September in China, but at the moment we don’t know details regarding its global availability.
