Huawei MateBook available to pre-order in Canada starting at $909
Huawei has revealed that its 2-in-1 MateBook (think Microsoft Surface, Apple iPad Pro competitor) will arrive in the U.S. next month with pricing starting below $700.
Announced back at Mobile World Congress earlier this year, the MateBook runs Windows 10 and can be paired with a detachable folio-style keyboard cover as well as a digital “MatePen” stylus for handwriting annotations and sketching. You still have the full range of 6th generation Intel Core M processors available as well as 128GB, 256GB and 512GB solid-state storage options with 4 to 8GB of RAM behind a 12-inch 2,160 x 1,440 QHD touch display.
The Huawei MateBook will be priced at $699 for the Core m3 model with 4GB of memory and 128GB of storage, while the Core m5 version with the same memory/SSD will be $849.
Huawei MateBook is available for pre-order starting today.
Huawei has a following among mobile phone aficionados, and it’s hoping that goodwill carries over to the Windows tablet market with the Huawei MateBook 2-in-1. It will be available in multiple configurations and two sharp colors: gray and gold.
The device runs Windows 10 Signature Edition in the USA, although Huawei was clear to state that this will be different in various parts of the world. It has a fanless design and features a USB Type-C port, stereo speakers, and a fingerprint scanner. Good thing it comes in a gorgeous, aluminum unibody frame and offers a fingerprint scanner.
Huawei MateDock expands the MateBook’s capabilities with two USB 3.0 ports, an Ethernet, an HDMI, and a VGA port. Unfortunately, this only includes the 2-in-1 itself, not its accessories.
Stay tuned as Windows Central will report on today’s press event that Huawei is hosting in New York City on the Matebook launch. The MatePen has 2,048 levels of pressure sensitivity, a built-in laser pointer, and a presentation clicker button.
