Huawei tipped to release Nexus this autumn
Then, the Nexus 4 was unveiled, this time with LG as the maker and it was a game-changer as it offered a nice design based on curved glass on the front and glass covering a nice-looking textured back, plus it had decent specs and Android 4.1 Jelly Bean for a very low price. LG has manufactured the nexus devices before, but Huawei’s entry has come as a surprise. Rumors that Huawei will produce the new Nexus have been spreading since February.
The said score allegedly comes from AnTuTu 5 on the LG handset. When making Nexus devices, Google has conventionally stuck with mainstream OEMs.
The news is significant because not only does it speak to the continued growing power and credibility of native Chinese companies (which we’re perhaps more used to as the place where gadgets are assembled rather than designed), but also because it could signal that Google is planning to launch its Google Play services in China. Since the LG Nexus 2015 has obtained record shattering scores on AnTuTu, it may not be powered by Snapdragon 810.
As of this writing, there are only two major competitor chipsets for the Exynos 7420, the Helio X20 SoC from MediaTek and the Snapdragon 820 SoC from Qualcomm.
Another snippet we can take from this benchmark appearance is that the Nexus 5 2015 has a display with Full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080. Barely a month later, it is now being reported that the phone will launch as early as in Autumn. A new Nexus smartphone will be of interest to a lot of consumers because Nexus has been synonymous to devices with good specifications and “a pure Android experience”.
Are you eagerly waiting for a new Nexus smartphone? Android M was announce late May at Google I/O 2015 and it’s already available for select Nexus devices as Developer Preview.
