Huckabee’s Adele ‘Hello’ parody begs for Iowa boost
Standing out during the presidential race can be hard for candidates, but Republican Mike Huckabee tried his best when his campaigners parodied one of the biggest songs of 2015, parodying Adele’s “Hello”.
Finally there’s the less-than-inspiring call to arms in the chorus, which half-heartedly pleads: “This insane circus, it’s gone cuckoo-ca-choo, and Huckabee is the guy who’s long overdue”.
But while Adele’s original song became an instant success on YouTube – “Hello” smashed records when it became the fastest video to garner 1 billion views on the streaming site in just 87 days – Huckabee’s attempt at a humorous cover will probably fall short.
The video shows several clips of Huckabee campaigning in different cities across the United States. Ted Cruz campaigning with former Fox News host Glenn Beck.
The video features a faux text message conversation between Huckabee and Cruz in which the senator says, “I’m Canadian!” after Huckabee mistakes him for a Czech. “If Bernie wins, I’m gonna die”.
With Huckabee polling in single digits heading into the do-or-die caucus, the music video finds a less talented version of Adele singing weird lyrics like “Hello, Ankeny / Arctic blasts, subzero chills / Campaigning is a dream / I got frostbite, gangrene / Iowans are not for sale / They’re stubborn and picky”.
