Fifty-six-year-old pro wrestling legend Sting will vie for his first WWE title next month against current champion Seth Rollins at the “Night of Champions” pay-per-view, WWE confirmed after Sting made a surprise appearance on Monday night’s “Raw“. Rollins was in the ring celebrating his defeat of John Cena at the previous night’s “SummerSlam” event in the same building, and was expecting a statue to be revealed in his honor. HHH had promised this if Rollins had won the WWE World Heavyweight Championship and WWE United States Championship after SummerSlam.
During the last segment of Raw, Triple H and Stephanie McMahon were preparing to unveil a statue for Seth Rollins. Former WCW champ Sting was actually under the curtain.
As announced at the end of RAW, Triple H appeared on the WWE Network immediately after the show to address what happened. When he finally processed the whole situation, he tried to attack Sting but ended up getting beat up. Now, Sting is about to have a second match with the corporate, and this time WWE’s prime title might be on the road.
Regarding his entrance on Monday, the WWE started the covered platform out backstage with Sting inside of it and he was in there the whole time, according to PWInsider.
