Hugh Grant passed on ‘Bridget Jones’s Baby’: I didn’t like the script
Whoa, baby! We already knew that Hugh Grant wouldn’t be joining his former co-stars in ‘Bridget Jones’s Baby, ‘ but we didn’t know whether that was by choice or not.
“Who is the one second from the right, because I’ve never seen her before in my life?” he asked, later exclaiming “Oh, Renee!” after he was clued in on the answer.
Zellweger will reprise her role as the titular character in Bridget Jones’s Baby in September, while Grant stars opposite Meryl Streep and Simon Helberg in Florence Foster Jenkins, in theaters Friday.
When Hugh Grant appeared on U.S. talk show Watch What Happens Live he had no idea he’d end up in hot water after accidentally insulting a former co-star. He looked shocked when someone told him.
Fans were shocked when Renee reappeared in 2015 after several years out of the limelight, claiming she was nearly un-recognisable. She’s been accused of having plastic surgery, something she has denied.
Hugh then went on to say that Zellweger was “not exactly down to earth” and that he would be “pushing it” to call any of his other female co-stars down to earth. Co-stars Renee Zellweger and Colin Firth will return as Bridget Jones and Mark Darcy in the third film.
“They had a lovely idea for a film, but I’m particularly hard and queeny (sic) when it comes to scripts.”, he told USA chat show Watch What Happens Live! on Thursday (11Aug16).
Cohen asked which actress made the most effort to keep in touch, and Grant quipped, “None”.
“They did come to me a couple years ago”, Grant revealed.
