Hugh Jackman: Orphanage scene in ‘Pan’ hit close to home
The plot for Pan is markedly darker than other adaptations of Peter Pan.

I’m completely comfortable [with Pan]. “So Peter Pan offered an escape from all of that”, he said. Jackman noted that one of the main reasons he wanted to be involved with the project was to work with Wright. I hated childhood. I found it a really hard period of life. “She’s right”, Jackman, 46, told Variety. Working with these great directors, you learn so much as an actor and you are offering audiences something different. “I loved the duplicity of all the characters”. “I was 30 when I got the role, so one thing fans have not seen is a younger Wolverine“. I communicate with them every day. Since starting a family, 46-year-old Hugh has started to feel more youthful. I love directing him just as I love directing Saoirse, because he came without any baggage, without any kind of habits or ego.
“I couldn’t talk for a week. I wish they would let me do it in my way”.
Mara said she sat down with Wright and discussed his vision. “My father made us very respectful”. He has a kind of rural rhythm to his speech, but he’s very quick with his humor. Do you think it would work the same without having those references or knowledge? It must have been a challenge to find your Peter Pan, but also it was a gamble because you’re putting a lot of weight on the shoulders of an unknown actor. I felt a complete trust with her to be exactly who I am.
Despite the difficulties they faced while trying to conceive a biological child together, Jackman said that they always planned to adopt children into their family.
