Hugh Jackman records sound effects for Logan, makes Wolverine look ridiculous
“Logan” is possibly the last film in Marvel Cinemas with Hugh Jackman casting as Logan / Wolverine, and shockingly the movie ended with no post-credit scene. Often times in movie action sequences or other “physical” scenes an actor will go back into the studio to flawless the sounds of a particular scene.
Along for the ride is series-veteran Professor Xavier (Patrick Stewart) who has deteriorated into a much weaker version of himself. It has since roared its way to positive reviews, with one writer calling it “good enough that you might forget it’s a comic-book movie”. A relationship that proves to be more impactful, however, is that of Logan and Laura. 2017 film Logan directed by James Mangold is Australian actor’s last stint as the beloved clawed superhero (badly hoping to see him in Wolverine Vs Deadpool crossover). This is no film for children, nor is it a popcorn entertainment summer movie kind of film. Wolverine is on his own, and needs nobody.
Desperation, pain and anger play out very differently on a Wolverine who is beginning to show that he may not be so indestructible as we all thought.
The music fits the graphic nature of the film. It deals with a variety of issues, the trials of aging, mortality, family, duty, and redemption, but in a way that is organic to the story being told. Loosely based on the acclaimed Mark Millar and Steve McNiven graphic novel Old Man Logan, the story is set far in the future – 2029 to be exact. It was important that this element that fans loved about the character was captured on screen. It’s also an R rated film due to the violence and rightly so. The outlet adds that the actor was pushing to make the movie.
Logan is everything I ever wanted in a Wolverine movie, I just wish the formula could have been figured out before the ninth film. On par with Christopher Nolan’s “Dark Knight”, “Logan” delivers a smart and gritty plot, with emotional and genuine acting. Content just to go into hiding while caring after his longtime mentor, his world gets up-ended by the arrival of a little girl with special powers.
