Hugh Jackman Reveals the Moment He Knew He Was Done Playing Wolverine
It’s billed as the swan song for Hugh Jackman as the mutant superhero known as Wolverine, AKA Logan.
Fans can’t stop gushing about awesome, and R-rated, “Logan” is. And despite the extreme violence and comic book origins, it’s first Marvel movie that feels like it could exist in the real world, which leads to a conclusion of the Wolverine saga in a surprising but ultimately gratifying manner.
In mid-February, the “Wolverine” star shared a picture of himself wearing a huge bandage over his nose, telling his 10 million Instagram followers that he had been treated for basal cell carcinoma, or skin cancer, for what is believed to be his sixth time in more than three years.
What did you set out to accomplish with this movie? With the kids, I knew.
Agreeing with Colbert saying James Mangold, the director, had declared “no one wants to see that”, he added: “He really said, “we’re gonna have to hide the camera here”.
Much like last year’s Deadpool the action sequences are pulled down in scale so it’s a nice change from the usual set up of building being destroyed.
“The moment he said it, I was like, ‘This is it.’ I’m quite indecisive, but when I get that gut feeling, it’s kind of a relief to me”.
It’s a Wolverine film that is the most fitting goodbye. It is partly this mystery that Logan tries to solve in the film, forming a duo of shock – but especially particularly moving – with the girl. Now would be a good point to quit while you’re ahead. But when we tested the film, the audiences were like: “AWESOME!”
And I think another reason we succeeded with the film, and with the studio is that – death is not trivial at all. He was my writing partner on this, and when he wrote it, I was just like: “Yeah, that’s ideal”.
The conjecture is that Fox, having made boatloads of money from the R-rated “Deadpool”, isn’t exactly anxious that this is a mistake. So, you have to get them to leave that money on the table at the start.
And that’s something his movies haven’t explored as deeply as this one.
And that, we think, just about covers it. He knew that he was being interviewed by an Indian journalist, and by taking Shah Rukh Khan’s name, he has again proved that he is one of the finest actors of this generation.
You can certainly piece together the truth from what’s in the film: the genetically modified corn syrup crops that Logan is shown earlier in the film have been altered – possibly by Zander Rice – to supress the mutant gene. How did Patrick take to his role in this movie? Logan and the professor have a vague plan to eventually save enough money to buy a small sailing boat and spend the rest of their days alone on the high seas, away from people and supervillains and anyone else who might trouble their shattered lives any further, but like Murtaugh’s endlessly hoped for retirement in the Lethal Weapon films, you get the sense that their dream will always be just beyond their actual means. I thought: “this is the beginning, gone!”
He went for it, he really did.
The Aussie actor is well aware of the strength of Indian team and knows that they will play boldly in the next match.
Apparently, the “Logan” movie will be the swan song to Jackman who has been greatly involved in the history of “X-men”.
I don’t make proclamations like that.
“Sitting beside Hugh watching him say goodbye I realized there will be no more ideal time to say au revoir, adios, goodbye to this franchise than this, I’m very content”, Stewart added. My thing is, is it interesting? There hasn’t been a new one born in 25 years, and the old ones are dying. And that goes for anything. If it’s that – then I’m not interested in participating in that.
