Hull swoop for Weir
HULL CITY have signed young midfielder James Weir from Manchester United for an undisclosed fee – and are now working towards securing other incoming deals before the 11pm deadline.
The 21-year-old, who has represented England at Under-18 and Under-19 level, made one late substitute appearance for the Red Devils last season but that was the only time he featured for the senior side.
‘I couldn’t be happier to join Hull and really get my career started.
Sky Sports is reporting he’s set to come to the KCOM Stadium a day after Will Keane completed his own transfer from Man United to Hull when he signed permanently with it unclear if this would be a loan or permanent deal for Weir.
He will be reunited with former team-mate Will Keane and Weir told the club’s website: “I’ve played with “Keano” a few times and I’m looking forward to linking up with him again”.
Weir follows Dean Henderson out the Old Trafford exit door after the goalkeeper left for Grimsby Town on loan. Despite their rampant off-pitch problems, Hull have enjoyed a magnificent start to their first season back in England’s top division, picking up two wins before pushing Mourinho’s side to the 92nd minute, eventually succumbing to a late victor.
