Hummer rage case: Kerala beedi tycoon Nisham held guilty
The incident occurred on the night of January 29, 2015, when Nisham was waiting for the guard to open the gate of his luxury apartment building.
Mohammed Nisham, “the beedi king” of Kerala, rammed his SUV into 51-year-old Chandrabose, pinned him to a wall, dragged him for 700 metres, stomped on him and then shouted “this dog will not die”, a judge was told today.
“We have argued for the maximum penalty – death”, said Mr Bhanu. The security guard succumbed to his grievous injuries after three weeks at a private hospital. (ALSO READ: Police offers VIP treatment to beedi tycoon accused of murder, 5 personnel suspended).
Nisham made his fortune from beedis, the hugely popular hand-rolled Indian cigarette packed with tobacco leaves, and also owns hotel and jewellery businesses in the Middle East.
His auto collection includes a Bentley, a Rolls-Royce, an Aston Martin, a Ferrari and a Jaguar.
The Supreme Court rejected Nisham’s bail plea, declaring the case was an illustration of how “the rich have become entirely egocentric and megalomaniacs”.
One of the key witnesses in the case, Anup, was earlier declared hostile by the court in October.
Additionally in 2013, they report because she requested him to pull over, he locked a female police officer.
But the latest case attracted national attention and outrage and he was found guilty on Wednesday of various offences including murder and voluntarily causing hurt by unsafe weapons.
