Hummus Recalled Due To Listeria Risk
Sabra Dipping Company made the recall announcement of 57 products after it was found Listeria Monocytognes in its manufacturing facility. The elderly, pregnant women, newborns, and immunocompromised adults are most at risk for listeriosis, but rarely, healthy children and adults can also experience serious complications. Symptoms include fever, abdominal pain, diarrhea, muscle aches, stiffness and fatigue.
In pregnant women, the infection may cause premature delivery, stillbirth, and the infection of the baby. Consumers are urged to toss out any products with a “Best Before” date up through January 23, 2017, which is printed on the lid of each package. Product codes and “best before” dates are on the lid of each package. Interested consumers can find the whole product recalls list on the Sabra website. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is conducting a food safety investigation, which may lead to the recall of other products.

According to the CDC, one in six people become ill from eating contaminated food annually in the United States.
HollywoodLifers, did you know about the Sabra recall before today?
The products were distributed to retail outlets in the United States before November 8 from an undisclosed plant where Listeria monocytogenes was found.
“The safety and quality of our products is and always will be our top priority”, said Sabra Chief Executive Shali Shalit Shoval.
If other products test positive for Listeria monocytogenes, the CFIA officials will alert consumers in a short notice. “So it’s very important that you check your refrigerator that you don’t have any of these products, and discard them”, Schaffner said. Sabra says it has now taken steps to correct the issue.
