Hundreds Join Black Lives Matter Protest in Seattle; Four Arrested
In Portland, Ore., the Black Lives Matter movement took their protest inside a Portland shopping mall.
Black Lives Matter Minneapolis and other organizations have vowed to stay outside of the precinct – no matter the weather – until they get justice for Clark.
Speakers at the rally asked to increase the minimum wage to $15 per hour.
Hundreds of mostly peaceful protesters in downtown Seattle tried to turn the frenzied day of shopping known as Black Friday into Black Lives Matter Day.
Protestors told us their chants are simply cries for change – and calls for justice.
Many of those who joined in the march spoke out against the materialism that they say has come to dominate the holiday season.
None of the five people who were struck suffered life-threatening injuries, but activists said one person hit in the stomach had to undergo surgery.
Last year, police arrested several people during the demonstration, which shut down the Westlake Center shopping mall early and disrupted its tree-lighting event.
A police statement says officers responded to the home just before 8 p.m. Friday.

“We have seen time and time again how police misuse their authority that’s given to them and how to choose to enforce it”, said a demonstrator. Police said three of the men are white and the fourth is Asian.
In the wake of the shootings, Clark’s family asked for protesters to end the encampment out of safety concerns, and U.S. Rep. Keith Ellison said it would be wise to “start thinking about an exit strategy” and what to do next.
