Hundreds of NYU Students Participate in Walkout to Support Sanctuary Cities
Meanwhile, students throughout the state of IN are planning walkouts for Wednesday afternoon to show their support for initiatives at their campuses.
More than 100 colleges across the country, including some here in IN, joined in protest to declare their schools sanctuary campuses. The election of Donald Trump has many concerned about the future of them and their families.
Given that the cities of Cambridge and Boston are engaging in dialogue surrounding the safety of immigrants in this country, we think it important to consider the role that Harvard can play in doing the same. We are the people who serve food to the customers, while they experience discrimination, racism and sexism, behind the kitchen door making four dollars per hour.

America’s next generation of community organizers has launched a new campaign to turn college campuses into safe spaces for illegal immigrants not unlike the model of sanctuary cities.

Reliford said the university needs to take action. They’re afraid for their families.
Notre Dame is a safe place for undocumented immigrants. However, Pedroza and the other supporters say the University designating itself as a sanctuary campus could go a long way.
Maggi Driscoll, a freshman studying political science and journalism, said she was inspired to join the march by her professor, whom she declined to name.
