Hundreds of thousands honor Cavs at parade
James played his first seven professional seasons in Cleveland after being selected No. 1 overall by the Cavs in the 2003 National Basketball Association draft.
Fans scale the side of a parking garage to get a better view during the parade.
“I’m just one man”.
There aren’t many people that believe James will leave Cleveland once again, but now that he has won the title that he promised the city, could he be bound for another city?
The event is scheduled to start at 11 a.m.in the plaza next to Quicken Loans Arena, which was the epicenter of Sunday night’s massive party when the Cavs completed their historic comeback by rallying from a 3-1 deficit to stun the Golden State Warriors in the seven-game series.
James is set to earn $24 million next season if he doesn’t do any restricting with his contract.
I’m happy for the fans of Cleveland who can finally taste the flavors of watching a team from their town collect a title – something that hasn’t happened in 52 years.
“I wouldn’t trade it for the world”, Irving said.
What we can all learn from this is to constantly look for ways to reshape the process of whatever it is we’re trying to do, and to become the most efficient in helping ourselves get to where we want to go. They won’t be getting LeBron James, though.
Cavaliers’ J.R. Smith greets fans from the back of a pickup truck. Several streets in the downtown area were shut down Tuesday night in preparation of the parade. Kevin Love wore a golden-studded WWE championship belt, one that was out of Cleveland’s reach for so long. As Cleveland.com notes, this is the first major sports championship trophy the city has won in over 50 years. December 27, 1964 was the day Jim Brown last made them one.
Cleveland’s mantel has been barren of trophies since, and the close calls have gained infamous nicknames: Red Right 88, The Drive, The Fumble, The Shot, The Move and The Decision are a part of the city’s troubled sports lexicon. They lost to Atlanta.
A parade for second place.
“When I chose to leave Miami – I’m not going to name any names, I can’t do that – but there were some people that I trusted and built relationships within those four years (who) told me I was making the biggest mistake of my career”, James told espn.com.
There’s a new nickname – The End.
Numerous fans who arrived at the vast I-X Center adjacent to the airport on Monday morning were going on little or no sleep following Sunday night’s riveting victory.
“I love it here”.
