‘Hundreds of thousands in Spain’ could be affected by Zika virus

Another 21 cases have been reported in the US territories of Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands. Consistent and correct use of latex condoms reduces the risk of sexual transmission of many infections, including those caused by other viruses.

The case seemed to confirm two earlier scientific reports suggesting sexual transmission of Zika is possible although considered rare.

More than 50 cases of Zika have been confirmed in 14 states and the District of Columbia, and six of those cases involve pregnant women.
