Hundreds rally for Trump at Colorado Capitol
Organizers say the rally is to show support for the country and President Donald Trump.
March for Trump rallies were held Saturday across the country – including up the turnpike in Tulsa.
“At the forefront of everyone’s mind – President Trump’s claims that former President Obama ordered his “‘wires tapped’ in Trump Tower just before the victory”.
The Associated Press reported that in some locales, including near the president’s weekend vacation home at Mar-a-Lago in Florida, rally-goers and protesters exchanged profanity.
At Austin’s “March 4 Trump” rally local supporters braved the rain as they were joined by other Texans and some from even further away.
Debbie Dooley, a leader of the group and co-founder of the Tea Party, told Time magazine the rallies planned for Saturday are meant to be a positive response to recent negative events held by Trump’s political rivals.
“I never thought I’d see the day when we had a voice again”, concluded Barry Casper, an insurance agent and co-organizer of People 4 Trump.
“We were here today in an effort to unify America”, Sartin said. His nephew Patrick Harlan opposed U.S. Rep. Cheri Bustos, D-Moline, in Illinois’ 17th Congressional district in the last election. Gormlie said the event was peaceful and friendly.
Supporters of President Donald Trump gathered around the nation Saturday, including Kentuckiana, to show their support of his presidency.
“Draining the swamp makes a lot of sense to me”, she said. “We are here to show support for the president of the United States”. “He needs to know that we’re all behind him, still, no matter what they try and do to him”, said Shelly Schwab of Northeast Philadelphia. The central Iowa event will be held on the state capitol grounds in Des Moines.
They also encouraged people at the rally to push their elected representatives to also support Trump.
During the rally, a small group of anti-Trump protesters stood nearby holding placards with slogans such as “Resist Hate” and “Make Racists Afraid”.
Police then separated the protesters and counterprotesters, allowing the latter to gather on a broad stairway.
A large group of Denver police officers helped maintain peace.
