Hunger Games: Mockingjay- Part 2 aims for $120 million
After three years – yes, the first installment was released just three years ago – it’s time to bid farewell to the “Hunger Games” series. If you’ve been following along this far, you won’t be disappointed; if you’re a fan of the book, you won’t be disappointed; and if you haven’t seen any of these movies yet…what are you waiting for?! “I think my introduction into the guys, the gang, and the fact that they all kind of welcomed me, with open arms, surprisingly”. That’s fair, but you’re getting my opinion anyway.
The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2 is in cinemas now. Plus her energy level is lacking in this film. Toward the end there are a few acts of war that are a bit hard to swallow, so be prepared for that. The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2 does little to change this. We are hoping that this movie will earn $120 million on box office. The scenes between him and Jennifer Lawrence, played by equally good performers from separate generations, are even more exciting than a few of the action sequences.
To be fair, I’m sure it’ll make tons of money, but more out of sense of duty on the audience’s part, and not because it deserves it or is inspiring the passion the previous films did.
I saw “Secret in Their Eyes” earlier this week and that film was dark, really dark.
But then the franchise wouldn’t have made as much money. However the upcoming film will draw the curtains for the Hunger games series. “For me, Hunger Games is Katniss and we’ve told her story”, she said. “She went down and luckily no one saw because it was at the back of the theater…I picked her up, she now only has one heel so I’m walking her out”. The film has a rather long fade-out, but I think it works – this is a story that can’t end in rah-rah triumph, given the horrors that have unfolded.
Mockingjay Part 2 has a gross budget of $160 million, according to EW. “So it’s just like it’s the movie and the characters and they kind of have their own life and it’s kind of like your avatar self”.
The film is rated PG-13 for violence. At this point, the young adult novel adaptation has kind of become a genre unto itself.
A year ago, I walked out of “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1” disappointed that I had watched a once relatively exciting series come to a screeching halt. Part 2 has those problems and more, serving as a disappointing conclusion and a poor standalone movie.
