Husband, wife charged with battery on elderly mom

Raymond faces charges of battery and aggravated battery of a person 65 or older and neglect and aggravated abuse of an elderly person.

Raymond, 56, and Debbie Sutherland, 54, were arrested Monday by Osceola County Sheriff’s detectives after an investigation revealed that an 81-year-old woman was abused by her son, Raymond back in mid-September.

According to 911 dispatchers, two people were killed in a two-vehicle crash Friday evening. “When the victim regained consciousness she was lying in a pool of blood”, investigators said to WESH. After a few time, the son called for medical assistance and she was taken to the hospital. Debbie was charged with Battery on a Person Over 65 Years Old. The woman had fallen and asked her son for help getting up.

A man and his wife are in jail after police say they beat his 81-year-old mother, leaving her in critical condition.

Detectives said Raymond also told them that he didn’t hurt his mother, but then said he couldn’t remember because he takes medication that makes him black out. Though the victim initially denied being abused, doctors later determined that her wounds were not consistent with an accidental fall.

The harmed woman is now recovering in a Kissimmee medical rehabilitation center. Raymond was also charged with elderly neglect and aggravated abuse of an elderly or disabled adult on top of the other charge.

The victim is now in critical condition.
