Huskers Suffer Another Last Second Loss

For the fourth time this year, Nebraska lost on essentially the last play of the game as Wisconsin’s Rafael Gaglianone made a 46-yard field goal with four seconds left to give the Badgers a 23-21 victory in Lincoln.

Senior fullback Andy Janovich busted a 55-yard touchdown run with 3:38 remaining to give Nebraska a 21-20 lead. But it didn’t feel atypical, either, and while it was like the others – Nebraska’s four losses this season have come by a combined 11 points, all coming on the opponent’s final offensive play of the game – it felt dissimilar in a few ways, too.

Last week, the Huskers lost, 14-13, when the Illini scored a game-winning touchdown with 10 seconds left. “We’re going to try to progress and improve”. Just like they did against BYU in week one and at Illinois last week, the defense couldn’t get a stop when it mattered most. We didn’t come here because we wanted to be (2-4).

Clement was primed to become Wisconsin’s latest in a long line of rampaging feature backs when Melvin Gordon departed early for the National Football League after rushing for 2,587 yards as a junior in 2014 and finishing as the Heisman Trophy runner-up. I think they will come out with the win and put the Hawkeyes in the mix of the non-undefeateds.

“We’re obviously in a box, that it’s just a game, a chance to win, a chance to really prove what we can do without having to think about big ramifications or standings”, Riley said.
