Hyundai India Announces Price Hike; Creta’s Prices Remain Unaffected – News – Auto
Hyundai India, which made its entry in the SUV segment with the launch of the new Hyundai Creta on Tuesday, is planning to launch a sub-4 metre SVV to expand its market further. Hyundai has already received about 15,000 bookings for the Creta till as of press time.
The company sells a range of cars, including small cars- Eon, i10, sedans Verna and Sonat – and premium sports utility vehicle Santa Fe in India, priced between Rs 3.08 lakh and Rs 30.21 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
At present, the Korean vehicle maker is facing a huge capacity crunch at its existing facility near Chennai, but is now “close” to finalising a new location which will house the new factory.
The lobbying has been hectic after Hyundai Motor Group’s global chairman Chung Mong-koo said in May that the company is “reviewing” plans for a new factory in India.
Hyundai that recently launched the Creta compact SUV, is now contemplating a compact MPV and a sub-4 metre SUV for the Indian market. Mid-level variants offer dual front airbags, while the top-end SX gets side and curtain airbags with VSM and ESC.
Stand-out features of Creata include 7 inch audio video navigation system, 5 inch touchscreen audio system, smart key with push button start, LED positioning lamps and others. “We have had successful product launches in last couple of years but none has matched the reception that Creta has”, the report quoted Rakesh Srivastava, SR VP, sales and marketing at Hyundai Motor India, as saying.
