Hyundai says the Santa Cruz pickup is a go
“I’m not clear on the other markets, but from our perspective it’s a vehicle that will be exported to other markets“.
The Hyundai Santa Cruz was previewed by a concept at the 2015 Detroit Motor Show, and ever since the American division has been pushing the headquarters to get its production approval.
Hyundai concluded by claiming that the Santa Cruz pickup truck will be getting produced later this year and it will be built on the same platform that is used to develop the Tucson.
“We will really be happy when Hyundai Motors officially dictate the release date”.
If you were a big fan of the Hyundai Santa Cruz pickup truck concept, then we have good news for you.
“Our timing is not crossing our fingers and waiting for approval, it’s trying to figure out when we’re going to announce it”, Hyundai U.S. boss Dave Zuchowski told Australia’s Motoring in an interview at the 2016 Detroit Auto Show. If that’s going to be the case, the Santa Cruze will be Hyundai’s first model powered by a diesel engine in United States. They don’t want to launch a new Santa Cruz without being able to cater to the audience with excessive number of cars. The 2017 Honda Ridgeline also debuted in Detroit, and would likely be the Santa Cruz’s most direct rival. It also used the HTRAC all-wheel drive system from Hyundai’s production cars and crossovers.
Hyundai doesn’t have pickup trucks, very much like Honda.
