‘I am Chris Farley’ trailer documentary shows emotion behind the amusing guy
The film promises emotional contributions from a veritable who’s-who of ’90s comedy, including Dan Akroyd, Mike Myers, Dennis Miller, Christina Applegate, Jay Mohr, Adam Sandler, Molly Shannon, Bob Odenkirk, Lorne Michaels, and of course Farley’s BFF and cinematic partner-in-crime, David Spade.
The trailer starts light, recalling all the hilarity that Farly brought to Saturday Night Live with characters like Matt Foley, motivation speaker and his heart attack-having Superfan.
This summer the film will be released and his ex- cohorts and cast members delve into the legacy of which was Farley’s.
Most of us who possess souls and human decency feel at least a hint of sadness when thinking about Chris Farley, the comic great we, and the art of hilariousness, lost way too early.
Chris was found dead in his apartment, killed by an overdose of cocaine and morphine, in December 1997. Other SNL alums like Dan Aykroyd talk about the hard of dealing with the level of fame that Farley attended in such a short period of time.
In the documentary, fans will see Farley’s famous sketches, films and clips from his childhood that morphed him into the comedian he was. Farley’s peers applaud his natural comedic ability, his kindness and his inner demons that led to his tragic death.
“I Am Chris Farley” is slated for a limited release in theaters on July 31, and on Video on Demand and DVD starting August 11.
