“I hope he gets diarrhoea” – Kompany anxious about facing Hazard on Sunday
Premier League champions Chelsea visit City in the game of the weekend on Sunday, and their skipper would prefer the Blues’ star man to sit out, while sitting on the toilet.
The Barclays Premier League kicked off on August 8 with Manchester United scraping a win against Tottenham thanks to Kyle Walker’s early own goal and Chelsea seeing 2-2 draw against Swansea City and had Thibaut Courtois sent off the field.
“You’d nearly hope that Eden Hazard would have diarrhoea”, the City captain joked to Het Nieuwsblad.
On the prospect of the former Chelsea midfielder De Bruyne moving to the Etihad, Kompany said: “Let’s put it this way, he definitely wouldn’t make the team weaker”.
Kompany could always try the old “tainted lasagne” trick, as popularised by the Tottenham team of 2006. Because he ran past three-four defenders.
“You can have as many tactical plans as you want, if Eden starts running, it’s chaos”, he said. If a battle between the two teams that have lifted the trophy for the past two seasons was not enough, a former Chelsea player could be making his return to England against his former club.
“Messi and Ronaldo are stats animals”, her added. “Unbelievable”.
“Could I say he will ever reach their scoring levels?” I would never bet on that.
Kompany is the first to admit his own fall in standards as much as those of team-mates as City failed to defend their title last May. “It wouldn’t even be a bad performance when he ends up just behind Messi and Ronaldo”. It’s a nice challenge for us. Raheem [Sterling] was great and we have so many top players, Samir [Nasri], [Fabian] Delph coming back. We had good spells last season, but our consistency is what cost us.
