“I’ll be back” – Ronda Rousey responds to shock loss to Holly Holm
Holly Holm has been showered with praise since defeating Ronda Rousey by knockout at UFC 193 last Saturday in Melbourne, and one of the biggest compliments has come her Team Jackson-Winkeljohn teammate Jon Jones. “I appreciate the concerns about my health, but I’m fine”.
Fans also took to Twitter (via MMA Junkie), demanding for a rematch, after their champion went down with one kick to the head.
Mayweather did note Rousey’s loss came as she was featured on the January 2016 issue of The Ring, the venerable boxing magazine on whose cover he so often appeared before announcing his retirement with a 49-0 record after his September 12 win over Andre Berto.
“As far as I know, she’s good”, he said.
“I think a rematch makes sense for sure”, Holm said in the post-fight press conference. Hopefully, a rematch between her and the newest bantamweight champion Holly Holm will take place sooner. She did not, he said, have a concussion or a broken jaw.
Rousey planned on taking a hiatus from fighting following her matchup with Holm.
The UFC boss explained that even though Rousey suffered the knockout, and that he was initially concerned she may have suffered a more severe injury, there were no serious issues that prompted the her trip to the hospital.
Lady Gaga and the majority of the social media community were openly critical to Ronda Rousey for not touching gloves with Holm, saying that it was an “unsportsmanlike” behavior, as per Daily Mail. “Fake ass cheap shotting fake respect fake humility bitch”, Rousey captioned a video of herself getting in Holm’s face on the day of the fight, November 14.
“She needs time to rest, and after she rests we’ll figure out what is best for her career”.
After her defeat, Rousey thanked her fans on Instagram. She had her merits, but she won fights because her opponents made many mistakes when facing her, and she knew how to make everyone pay for their mistakes.
