I was asked to make chapatis, stay indoors: Imran’s ex-wife Reham
Telling about her relationship with Imran Khan, Reham Khan said she was of the belief that Khan loved her but time showed that she was wrong. She said guests to Khan’s home were never fed and he was surviving on “one chapati a day”.
Asked whether she had shut out Imran’s beloved pet from the bedroom, Reham denies the rumour.
One of the reasons cited for their split was her growing role in the party. “They basically wanted me to be in the kitchen, to be cooking chapatis”, Reham told Sunday Times.
The couple formally tied knot in Islamabad and celebrated their valima at Khan’s residence in Bani Gala after months of speculation about secret marriage. “There wasn’t any involvement, I never attended meetings or anything of the sort, but obviously there was insecurity”, Ms Khan said.
“The sad fact is that despite all my work with women’s rights, my marriage wasn’t registered in Pakistan or in the United Kingdom, so actually I have no rights and, after a 10-month marriage, you’re not entitled to anything”, she was quoted as saying in the interview.
No body from Imran Khan’s political party, PTI, or his family took charge to explain my position in that situation, she complained.
She said Khan was not prepared for changes after the marriage, adding that the allegations of taking money and jewellery, violence and trying to poison him are false. Khan’s response was silence, she said.
Instead I was told to ignore the smear campaign by Pakistani media while Imran Khan thought all this will automatically come to an end, she added. She said Khan was uncommunicative and unromantic and only talked on politics.
President Mamnoon Hussain has offered a mediation to resolve the growing rifts between Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chairman Imran Khan, for the sake of country’s betterment. You can not exactly discuss Bollywood films with him.
Clarifying reports that Imran divorced her over text message, Reham said they chose to part ways last month before she left Pakistan. She plans to continue her work with street children in Pakistan, is producing two films and is also looking for work in England.
“I have to make up for loss of income”.
