I will ‘probably’ sue because Ted Cruz cheated in Iowa
The Kentucky senator was the second Republican candidate, behind former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee, to drop out of the race since Monday’s night’s Iowa caucuses.
Ted Cruz released a statement Tuesday apologizing to Ben Carson after his campaign spread a rumor that Carson suspended his campaign.
“Last night when our political team saw the CNN post saying that Dr. Carson was not carrying on to New Hampshire and SC, our campaign updated grassroots leaders just as we would with any breaking news story”, the campaign told CNN. He said after Iowa he was going to go back to Florida for a couple of days and then he was going to go to D.C. for the prayer breakfast.
On the Republican side, Ted Cruz won with 28% of the vote, but Donald Trump and Marco Rubio were in a virtual tie for second, Trump with 24% and Rubio with 23%. The tweets are a marked contrast from the morning after the Iowa vote, in which Mr Trump offered his congratulations to his rival.
“It’s clear that there were people who tried to take advantage of a situation, who tried to distort information”, Carson said.
Iowa Rep. Steve King, a national co-chairman of Cruz’s campaign, wrote on Twitter Monday evening: “Looks like (Carson) is out”.
“If I had to do it again”, he said, “I would do the exact same thing and the reason is, do you know why?” “He said the man has left the race and he said it during the caucus”.
Rubio’s message matched the stump speech he’s been delivering for weeks-America is in decline and he’s the candidate to fix it. But tonight, he leaned right into New Hampshire voters, especially the ones still making up their mind.
Polls show well over half of Republican voters are undecided in New Hampshire.
Trump blamed the incorrect polling predictions on a hard caucus system in Iowa, and he added that he’s new to the game of politics. Voters in the Granite State go to the polls on Tuesday. “I think it fits me better, probably suits me better”, he told the crowd.
Trump remains the far-and-away front-runner in New Hampshire, according to polls, whose February 9 primaries are the next key contest.
