Ibra scores twice as United secure 2nd straight Premier League win
Mourinho has guided his side to two wins from their opening two league games, with Zlatan Ibrahimovic scoring twice in Friday’s 2-0 home win over Southampton to put United top of the early table.
The France global played well without setting the game alight, but definitely showed enough to get the home fans excited about the season ahead with him in the team. As long as I feel I can develop I’m happy’.
Pogba lasted the full game, despite having not played since Frances loss to Portugal in the European Championship final on July 10.
Everything that was individual was superb and the things related to the team he [Pogba] tried very hard to do.
Four years, five months and one day had passed since his previous appearance for the club, as a second-half substitute in a 5-0 Premier League win at Wolverhampton Wanderers in March 2012.
“Now I’m just focusing on trying to help my team win and after two games we have two wins, which is the most important thing”.
“We were good enough to deserve the victory and be in control”. And it was a good start.
“We need to get used to winning and carry on like this”.
“It was great: my debut and we won, so I am very happy for that”. He needs to settle in, and the rest will come by itself.
Pogba had a number of chances to extend United’s lead, first heading over from Mata’s corner and then blazing a pair of shots off-target.
“He’s very good in the air but he’s very good with his feet”, said Mourinho. You can see even more the ego, the personality, he is so comfortable as a star.
“I think the biggest compliment I can give him is that I was watching that game and watching Paul Pogba and I wasn’t thinking of £89m”.
“Jose is on record that Marouane has to win over the fans with his performances”, a source close to the club is quoted as saying.
“But every match is a match and I analyse the opponent and my team. That is all we can do”.
Fellaini was expected to be one of the first players to depart Old Trafford this summer when it was confirmed that Mourinho would be replacing Louis van Gaal in the managerial hotseat. “The crowd was magnificent”.
The United boss has a number of first-team players who have yet to feature in the first couple of matches in the Premier League, with several not even making the bench. Fellaini was a clear example … it is changing completely.
“Maybe a simple phone call can make a difference”, Mourinho said.
“A player that was feeling he was not loved”. I was relaxed, didn’t have nerves and played my game. For me you don’t leave for sure.
