ICC to not press charges against India and Australia for Bengaluru fracas
Indian captain Virat Kohli expressed his anger in an animated fashion on the field and later on stopped just short of calling his counterpart a “cheat”, saying that this was going on for a while.
“I don’t want to mention the word, but it falls into that bracket”.
“It was a quite emotional game for us, quite draining as well”. We’ve got 1.2 billion people in India.
The incident took place in the 21st over of the Australia’s second innings on Day Four when Smith was trapped LBW by pacer Umesh Yadav, a delivery that went underground and struck the former just above his left boot in front of middle stump. Kohli was full of praise for his bowlers for their efforts.
“I referred smudga to look at the box.my fault and was unaware of the rule. I think there are massive cracks showing in (Kohli)”, he would add. He points the bat like a gun at a spectator and then throws the bat yelling “bu.sh. umpiring”. Healy had criticised Kohli’s approach in Bangalore on Sunday, slamming the skipper’s actions as “unacceptable”.
“We’ve never done any of that”.
“When he turned back that’s when the umpires knew what was going on”.
“So I’m really proud of the way they went about it this game, even though we lost”.
Asked if the word in question was “cheating” Kohli said: “I didn’t say that, you did”. And that happens to every batsman. “I think you all should YouTube that video”. I want to give my opinion but I want to find out more about it.
“It was a great match, lot of ups and downs and a great contest, which is the hallmark of Test cricket”, said Waugh, arguably the most successful Australian skipper in history. Hats off to the way he’s played. When that happened, India were four down and leading by only 33 runs.
“We have to see what the ICC and match referee do. the match referee and the umpires should look into it”, Gavaskar told NDTV.
With players from both sides likely to be fined over the heated exchanges, it all helped wrap up what has been an incredibly tempestuous Test match.
Being on the receiving end for the first two days, India’s recovery was fuelled by a fighting batting show in their second hit. It needs to come into finality quickly before the next Test match as it’s not good to be talking about this. And you need guys to have that bit of cushion.
Although a batsman is within his rights to review a decision, he is not allowed to seek advice from off the field. Waugh thought that the umpire’s move diffused the situation.
Sutherland, Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) boss Rahul Johri and ICC chief David Richardson all have the power to report an alleged breach of the sport’s code of conduct. The third Test between India and Australia begins next Thursday, March 16.
