Not wasting any time, after this weekend’s blowout box office opening for “Straight Outta Compton“, Ice Cube and his son, who played him in the film, O’Shea Jackson Jr., are both going to appear on screen together (we may not be able to tell them apart!), co-starring in a Lionsgate action-thriller.
“Ice Cube’s character takes Felicia and says, “bye, Felicia” and kind of shuts the door on her in the hotel, while she’s just standing there topless”, music journalist Sowmya Krishnamurthy explained on HuffPost Live. After viewing the final cut of SOC, Cube reflected on his son’s performance.
Will Packer will produce with Donovan Marsh directing.
Ice is a Hollywood regular and has films like Ride Along, 21 Jump Street and Barber Shop under his belt. According to insiders, talks are still in the very early stages, which means there’s a chance the guys will pass on the project altogether. Hollywood was already established before we came. The project has been in the works for many years, and Cube and his son were approached about it months ago but bowed out after script and money negotiations failed. “It just went through different phases [of relationship cycles]”.
