If I was Allegri, I would walk to Chelsea
Max Allegri is ready to quit Juventus to work for Roman Abramovich at Chelsea – according to the Italian’s mentor Giovanni Galeone.
Speaking to Radio Radio, Galeone told of Allegri’s future.
On Monday, Juve director Giuseppe Marotta dismissed reports the 48-year-old could be bound for west London, but Galeone, who managed Allegri at Pescara, believes otherwise.
Massimiliano Allegri has been urged to “walk to Chelsea” and take up the “fantastic offer” that has been tabled for the Juventus coach by the Premier league giants.
He added: “For me, it would make no sense staying in Italy”. Allegri is doing incredible things, even if the club failed to buy the players he requested last summer: from Mario Gotze, to Isco.
The Italian manager has been heavily linked with a move to Stamford Bridge at the end of the season, as the Blues look to step up their plans to find Jose Mourinho’s permanent successor – Guus Hiddink is only at the club on an interim basis.
Allegri’s Juve are now on a 14-game winning streak in Serie A, and are on course to lift their fifth successive league title.
“For me, he will leave Italy, and I see him going to England because the proposal offered by Roman Abramovich is really fantastic”.
Other managers reported to be under consideration for the Chelsea job include Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone, Italy coach Antonio Conte and outgoing Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini.
Would Allegri be a good appointment for Chelsea? He also reached the Champions League Final.
