Ikechi Anya signs new five-year Watford contract
Ickechi Anya believes “the sky’s the limit” at Watford after he put pen-to-paper on a new five-year contract at the club.
The 27-year-old was strongly linked with a switch to Celtic during the summer transfer window after impressing at both club and worldwide level.
Due his impressive form, Anya has just agreed a new deal with the Hornets, as confirmed by the official website of the Premier League side.
Flores said: “A lot of times I think Anya has been man of the match, one of the best players this season”.
‘Sometimes I like to take separate players – not always leaders – sometimes you feel you need to talk with other players, separate.
“This is where I wanted to stay”.
“I’ve come a very long way”, he said.
Anya moved to Watford in 2012 following a spell in Spain with Sevilla reserves, Celta Vigo and Granada.
The versatile winger has gone onto make 110 appearances for the Hornets, scoring nine goals and has also picked up 17 worldwide caps since making his debut in September 2013.
Having started the season wide on the right of midfield, in the last three games Anya has excelled at left back – keeping £1.8million former Roma defender Jose Holebas out of the team.
Anya added: “To sign for five years with a Premier League club, I feel so grateful and honoured and I’m hoping these next five years could be a few successful times for Watford. We are very happy he will remain here”.
