Illinoisans Deliver almost 35000 Petitions To Rauner’s Office In Support Of
Health, faith, clean energy and business leaders delivered almost 35,000 petitions collected from across the state of IL to Governor Bruce Rauner’s office today at the State Capitol in Springfield. The state has been without a new budget since July first.
The Clean Power Plan looks to cut carbon emissions from existing USA power plants to 32 percent below 2005 levels by 2030. Radogno “looks forward to the opportunity to share her perspective and hear from the governor and other leaders on how we can work together to find solutions to the state’s challenges”, she said.
Rauner’s role will be to sign off on a plan that puts IL in compliance with the federal regulations.
Rauner’s office says the measure’s under review.
“Wind energy development has been a boon to rural counties across the state of IL, driving local development, new jobs and revenue”, Chris Nickell, Vice President of Site Establishment at American Wind Energy Management.
Kelly Nichols with Moms Clean Air Force IL said the state should implement strong policies to improve air quality and combat climate change.
More than half of the states have filed suit to block the rules, arguing that they will raise electric prices and devastate the coal industry. “When it’s a matter of the air we breathe, and the health of our families, there’s no time to waste, and no reason to wait”.
“We’re excited about (Madigan) standing up and being a model and an example for the direction we need to go”, Vance said.
