In 95-minute tirade, Trump flips belt buckle to mock Carson
Real-estate mogul Donald Trump went all-out against presidential rival Ben Carson during an epic Thursday-night speech in Fort Dodge, Iowa. When he says he’s pathological and he says that in the book, I don’t say that. “If you’re a child molester, a sick puppy, you’re a child molester, there’s no cure for that. I want the oil”.
Toward the end of his wide-ranging complaints about the country and competition, Trump mocked Carson’s narrative about his violent temper as a youth that was calmed only when he prayed to God and asked for deliverance, an event that Carson describes as a miracle. “That’s not the kind of thing you need to be doing”, said Plymouth County Republican Chairman Don Kass, who is neutral in the GOP race. That story of redemption has underpinned much of Carson’s support in Iowa. You do not remedy these people.
Trump arrived late Thursday to address a sold-out auditorium of Iowa Republicans, and then proceeded to deliver 95-minutes of rambling insults against everyone from local voters to the generals in the Pentagon. “How stupid are the people of the country to believe that crap?” It’s really something for Trump to tell them that they’re morons as he tries to win them over. “There’s no cure for it. Pathological, there’s no cure for that”.
Trump has latched onto a line from the book in which Carson wrote, “I had what I only can label a pathological temper – a disease – and this sickness controlled me, making me totally irrational”.
Though most of his political tirade was directed towards Carson, Trump didn’t forget about Hillary Clinton, stating that the only political clout she has now is the fact that she’s the first women to get that close to the presidential primaries. Just, you know, if you ask me for apple and I give you an orange you would say, well that’s not an orange. He referred to “pathological anger” again in telling about lunging at his friend, a knife blade breaking off when it hit the boy’s belt buckle.
And this one about voters reaction to Carson’s life story: “How stupid are the people of Iowa?”
Carson has said his intended stabbing victim’s belt buckle blocked his knife, a detail Trump singled out in his rant.
During a speech at Liberty University in Virginia, Carson said Donald Trump’s plan to use a “deportation force” to remove America’s 11.5 unauthorized immigrants is “not pragmatic”. And why is he going off on them? But think of it, what he’s saying is these things happened. And what I’m saying is, I would rather have them if they didn’t happen.
Pointing back to Rubio’s work on the Senate’s bipartisan immigration reform bill, Trump said the senator was in favor of “amnesty” for undocumented immigrants because he is of Hispanic heritage.
In response, on November 13th, Mr Carson was reported to have said that Mr Trump needed prayers. And that’s right: I’d blow up the pipes, I’d blow up the refineries. “A child molester, there’s no cure for that”, Trump said. “A problem. Then they talk about my tone ‘is a little tough.’ Give me a break”, he continued.
