In Contrast to USA, Canada Welcomes Syrians With Open Arms
The Canadian Chamber of Commerce and its president, Perrin Beatty, are encouraging Canadian businesses to employee the Syrian refugees who are beginning to arrive in the country.
“So I thank you deeply for being a part of this because this matters”.
Canada’s Immigration and Refugees Minister John McCallum has lauded the efforts of Sikhs to help thousands fleeing Syria, a media report said.
All refugees received a warm welcome, along with winter clothing and teddy bears for the children.
He told them that they had now arrived home.
“We are saying: ‘OK, we’re ready, send us some cases, ‘” she said.
A second refugee flight is set to arrive in Montreal on Saturday. “The message is clear, that Canada welcomes everyone”.

Trudeau originally planned to bring in all 25,000 Syrian refugees by the end of December, but the plans were put back in the wake of the Paris attack as officials put in place enhanced screening procedures for refugees.
“We’re not going to sleep until they get here”, she said outside a Travelodge hotel near Pearson International Airport around 2 a.m. The pair said they had made arrangements with airport security to have the items – and several hundreds more bags – brought to the designated terminal where the government flight landed.
About 800 refugees destined for Canada are being screened by security and health officers each day in Lebanon and Jordan.
Trudeau was elected to a surprise majority in October promising to accept more refugees more quickly than the previous Conservative government.
But that policy was sharply criticized after the death of a 3-year-old Syrian boy, whose body on a Turkish beach became the defining image of the refugee crisis. Trudeau was eagerly waiting at the airport to welcome the “new Canadians”.
As US media continues to debate Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump’s calls for barring Muslims and refugees from entering the country, Canada has essentially thrown them a red-carpet welcome.

The West has struggled to deal with the large number of refugees, and has been conflicted on the best way to provide aid to the displaced. It airlifted more than 5,000 people from Kosovo in the late 1990s, more than 5,000 from Uganda in 1972 and resettled 60,000 Vietnamese in 1979-1980.
He suggests dozens more planeloads of refugees will arrive in the next few weeks to meet the target.
