In Florida, Trump set 100-day bar he now calls ‘ridiculous’
Businesses are projected to pay $340 billion in corporate taxes in 2018, roughly 10 percent of all revenue collected by the government.
Aides to President George W. Bush, whose transition period was stalled after a recount and court battle over ballots in Florida, argued his 100-day assessment should be delayed. “If Trump finds himself hoisted on the 100-day test, it is a petard that he erected for himself”.
President Trump didn’t know what he was talking about when he promised all that “Day One, 90 Day, 100 Day” activity, but he should be learning. Democrats are adamantly opposed to wall funding. His first attempt to repeal and replace President Barack Obama’s health care law failed in Congress. They also want to incentivize USA companies to move money back into the United States.
On Sunday, Office of Management and Budget Director Mick Mulvaney would not rule out a veto of a bill that did not include wall funds.
Where the Trump administration’s initiatives have languished in Congress, despite Republican majorities, the White House already has gotten its way in global venues.
“The Wall is a very important tool in stopping drugs from pouring into our country and poisoning our youth (and many others)!”, he tweeted on Monday morning. House members received little information from leaders on a conference call Saturday.
The Wall Street Journal first reported Trump’s request to cut the corporate tax rate to 15 percent Monday afternoon. The legislation would keep the government running through September 30, the end of the budget year. “It really doesn’t”, Noah said.
Are Democratic leaders out of touch with the needs of average people?
“Democrats do not support the wall”, she said, speaking also on NBC. “The burden to keep it open is on the Republicans”, Pelosi said. He referred to President Trump’s recent actions involving increased military spending as one such fulfilled promise. That would mean US taxpayers paying for a border wall and President Trump tweeted that eventually Mexico would pay in some form he says.
Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly told CNN’s Dana Bash on Sunday that Trump “will be insistent” about the inclusion of funding for the border wall, noting: “I think it goes without saying that the President has been pretty straightforward about his desire and the need for a border wall”. And there’s talk the health care bill could be regaining its pulse.
The internal squabbles within the Trump White House have not helped the president move forward with articulating his long-term vision. It found that 73% approved of his pressuring companies to stay in the USA, and 53% said he was a strong leader.
The development signalled a key challenge of the young administration: Trump’s lack of political experience, which had been a boon during his outsider campaign, left him without key support once he took office.
What are Trump’s biggest achievements so far?
Donald Trump’s “first big report card” is a week away, and on the latest installment of Late Night’s “A Closer Look”, Seth Meyers breaks down the fact that folks aren’t too happy with what’s been done during the president’s first 100 days.
