In Iowa, Trump intensifies ‘birther’ attack against Cruz

Clinton leads Sanders by 3 points (48-45 percent) in Iowa, while Martin O’Malley sits at 5 percent among likely voters, the poll found. Among a broader group of “potential” Democratic-caucus goers, Clinton improves to 6-points, 49-43 percent. Trump has repeatedly gone after Cruz’s eligibility to run for president in recent days, saying that his Canadian birth could become an issue Democrats will exploit in the general election.

In a turnaround from December when GOP caucusgoers said terrorism was the most important issue, this month 27 percent identified the economy and jobs as their top concern.

“I’m so exhausted of these weak exhausted disgusting corrupt politicians we have”, he said.

The poll shows that the “birther claims” surrounding the Texas senator could hurt the Texas senator’s chances, with 47 percent saying a person born in another country shouldn’t be president, compared to 32 percent who say it should be allowed.

But some focus group members said they thought the issue could be legitimate.
