In Paris aftermath, Fiorina, Santorum blame Obama, Clinton for ISIS’ rise
“This President has completely abandoned ship”, the Republican presidential hopeful told reporters at the Sunshine Summit in Florida.
Carly Fiorina says the terrorist attacks in Paris are a direct outcome of President Barack Obama and his administration’s foreign policy decisions.
Several Republican candidates for president on Saturday accused President Barack Obama and his former secretary of state, Democratic Party front-runner Hillary Rodham Clinton, of failing in the fight against Islamic State militants as the terrorist attacks in Paris became a focal point of the nomination race. The billionaire real estate mogul said the USA should be more aggressive against ISIS and called the United States “insane” to accept any refugees from Syria in the wake of the Paris attacks.
She was the last speaker at a presidential candidate summit organized by Florida’s Republican Party.
“President Obama and Hillary Clinton’s idea that we should bring tens of thousands of Syrian Muslim refugees to America: it is nothing less than lunacy”, Cruz said in an interview with Fox News. Another GOP front-runner, Donald Trump, said the attacks at a Paris concert hall, stadium, restaurant and other public spaces might have been avoided by civilians carrying concealed firearms.
Obama said Friday that the United States will work with France to respond to the attacks.
New Jersey Gov Chris Christie recalled the September 11, 2001, attacks and said he’s afraid that Americans have forgotten the fear and risk they felt afterward.
“We’re going to do whatever it takes to work with the French people and with nations around the world to bring these terrorists to justice, and to go after any terrorist networks that go after our people”, the president said.
He also talked about border security, saying the Paris terror attacks are a reminder that the government must carefully screen who’s coming in and out of the U.S. Rand Paul, who said more scrutiny is needed of “refugees, visitors and students” entering the U.S.to determine whether anyone is here “to do us harm”.
“But he will get my message: New deal”, she said.
The Republican presidential contender demanded to know why Obama refrains from using the term “Islamic terrorism”. “It’s pinprick, it’s photo-op foreign policy”.
ISIS on Saturday took responsibility for a series of terrorist attacks in Paris on Friday, killing at least 129 civilians and injuring hundreds.
Offering support for France, Santorum said that “we will stand with them and pray for them, and if we had better leadership, help them”.
