In South Carolina, big leads on both sides
Among likely Trump voters, 77 percent say they’ll definitely vote for him, and PPP notes that his lead is consistent among a hugely divergent group of people: young voters, men, women, evangelicals, independents, seniors, and people who somehow describe themselves as “moderates”.
According to new polling, Trump fans would support a ban on Musims, homosexuals, and even thought the South should have won the Civil War.
Seventy percent of Trump backers also believe that the Confederate battle flag should still be flying over their state capitol.
The poll also shows Trump’s strong rhetoric on Islam resonating with his sc supporters.
“In fact 38% of Trump voters say they wish the South had won the Civil War to only 24% glad the North won and 38% who aren’t sure”.
The survey indicates that these numbers could easily change: “The race is still pretty fluid in South Carolina-29 percent of voters say they might change their minds between now and Election Day”.
The same poll found that Trump is leading his closest rivals in SC by 17 percent. Should the practice of Islam be illegal in the U.S.?
Trump has 35 percent of support from SC Republicans.
On the Democratic side, Hillary Clinton continues to maintain a sizable advantage over Vermont Sen.
Public Policy Polling’s latest survey of South Carolina Republicans yields some shocking results for those who assume most of their fellow Americans don’t take issue with gays living in the country and believe it was a good thing the Confederacy was vanquished 150 years ago. Bernie Sanders 55 percent to 34 percent. Ben Carson holds 8 percent support, while Ohio Gov. John Kasich rises to a two-month high of 7 points.
“Donald Trump doesn’t seem to have lost any support in SC following Saturday night’s debate”, Dean Debnam, the president of PPP, said in a statement.
