In turnabout, Christie endorses former GOP rival Trump
Cruz supporter John Wical, of Lawrenceville, Georgia, a retired law enforcement officer, said the GOP race underscores the frustrations of many Americans but Trump’s backers have settled on the wrong answer.
Cruz, who has pledged to release his tax returns but has yet to do so, hammered Trump on not releasing his. “I guess because I figured Governor Christie would probably not participate in the campaign at this point”, he said.
Rubio is fighting for a second spot with Cruz in the Republican presidential primary.
‘I’m happy to be on the Trump team and I’m happy to be working with him, ‘ Christie said. Cruz asked. “You know, Mitt Romney said he thought there was a “bombshell” and there well may be”.
Once on stage, Trump even appeared off-balance when Rubio questioned whether Trump would have been “selling watches in Manhattan”, had not been his inheritance of a vast fortune. It is no surprise that Cruz is leading with an average of 34.0 percent of the vote, Trump follows with 26.8, and Rubio sits at 18.2.
The Hill reported late last week that Trump has 37% support in the seven states, citing a Bloomberg poll.
Cruz’s comments came as he pushes the billionaire mogul to release his tax returns, which Trump has declined to do, saying he’s been under federal audit for nearly a decade.
Later on Friday, Trump had a odd encounter with a protester who revealed he was wearing a shirt that said “KKK endorses Trump” before he was escorted out of a campaign rally in Oklahoma City.
Noting he had released his own tax information, Cruz first speculated that Trump was anxious that voters would see that he doesn’t make as much money as he likes to boast that he does.
“When voters have a clear choice between two people, that’s when Donald Trump starts to lose, so the sooner that happens, the better off we’re going to be as a party”, he said.
Ahead of Super Tuesday, Republican presidential candidate and Florida senator Marco Rubio used Virginia as a launching pad to “expose” what he claimed as “the other side” of his main rival and party front runner Donald Trump.
Rubio and Cruz both attacked Trump during Thursday’s debate, and have continued to lash out at the front-runner, hoping to stop his progress as they head into Super Tuesday next week. Among people supporting other candidates, 57 percent said they are committed. “He is the best person to beat her and he is the best person to help keep America safe”.
