In U.S.: State Department gets new emails from Clinton private server
In December 2014, Clinton gave the State Department copies of more than 30,000 emails she sent and received using a private account during her four years as secretary.
“In her last month, she helped us produce more than 20,000 pages of material and facilitated several interviews between State Department staff and the Committee”, her said.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation and several congressional committees are investigating. The surprise announcement that the long-serving Ohio Congressman would step down was a very effective distraction from a trio of revelations about the private email server Clinton used while secretary of state.
This specific email chain was first discovered by the Department of Defense and then forwarded to the State Department’s inspector general.
“The officials weren’t authorized to speak on the matter and demanded anonymity”.
The emails dealt with personnel issues and did not contain classified information, it said. A quarter has been made public so far.
In a statement, State Department spokesman John Kirby acknowledged the receipt of the email correspondence between Clinton and Petraeus. They also sought to determine if Abedin had any outside agreements or transactions.
Clinton is scheduled to testify in front of the House Select Committee on Benghazi on October 22 – a date conservatives are probably looking forward to given the slow and steady stream of Clinton email news from the past few months, especially since none of the news has done anything to sink her campaign yet.
Yet they fly in the face of Clinton’s previous claim that she had turned over all of her work-related emails. She also needs the money: She has committed to spend $4.1 million on television advertising this fall, on top of $2 million already spent in Iowa and New Hampshire.
We’ve noted before that Clinton’s defenses have repeatedly turned out to be implausible, incomplete, doubtful or just wrong. “When I did it, it was allowed, it was above board”.
If – as most observers now suspect – Biden does jump in, it is entirely possible her support crumbles.
Democratic presidential contender Hillary Rodham Clinton is mounting an intense press to stockpile campaign dollars in the final days of the quarter, aiming to build a war chest big enough to eclipse what is expected to be a healthy fundraising haul by Sen. “Furthermore, we asked the IG to incorporate this matter into the review Secretary Kerry requested in March. That was when she started using http://clintonemail.com”.
Clinton’s spokesmen, who did not respond to questions, have acknowledged that other work emails from later in her tenure were also missing from the record Clinton handed over.
The committee slammed the State Department for its failure to find them earlier, and said the State Department “failed to act in good faith” in the past.
