In wake of Orlando attack, classic Trump returns to campaign
Dismayed Republicans scrambled for cover Tuesday from Donald Trump’s inflammatory response to the Orlando massacre, while President Barack Obama and Democrat Hillary Clinton delivered fiery denunciations that underscored the potential peril for the GOP.
On Monday morning during an interview with Fox News, the magnate and half-fermented bezoar called for Obama’s resignation over Sunday’s massacre at a gay club in Orlando which took the lives of 50 patrons and has been declared the worst mass shooting in USA history.
People often criticize Donald Trump’s personalization of political issues, especially through his tweets, such as when he tweeted, “Appreciate the congrats for being right on radical Islamic terrorism, I don’t want congrats, I want toughness & vigilance”.
Trump also reveled in his decision to ban The Washington Post from covering his campaign rallies due to what he deemed “dishonest” coverage – one unprecedented in modern American political history.
“What exactly would using this label accomplish, what exactly would it change?”
He hammered Trump over his “dangerous” mindset and “loose talk and sloppiness” about who exactly America was fighting, implying that Trump’s remarks were actually driving Muslims who might be prone to radicalization into the arms of ISIS.
“There’s no magic to the phrase radical Islam”. And for the president to say that; A. It is not the truth, and B. It reeks of political incorrectness, which ends up driving people to Donald Trump.
Trump has used the carnage to renew his call to temporarily ban foreign Muslim from entering the country, and added a new element: a suspension of immigration from areas of the world with a proven history of terrorism against the USA and its allies. “If we fall into the trap of painting all Muslims with a broad brush and imply that we are at war with an entire religion, then we are doing the terrorists’ work for them”, he said.
But “before you sell your house and book a one-way ticket, maybe it makes sense to check us out first”, urges the flight attendant, who points out that Air Canada operates 240 flights between Canada and the USA each day.
He is more concerned with not hurting Muslim feelings than he is about keeping Americans safe by allowing refugees from Syria, who have not been thoroughly vetted to come to this country.
In refusing to use the term “radical Islam”, Obama was following a precedent set by his Republican predecessor, George W. Bush, who said after the September 11, 2001, attacks that “ours is not a campaign against the Muslim faith”. “Sometimes he would go over in the corner and sit and drink by himself, and other times he would get so drunk he was loud and belligerent”, Ty Smith told the Sentinel.
Smith told the paper that he saw Mateen inside at least a dozen times.
“It betrays the very values America stands for”. I do not think it is reflective of our principles not just as a party, but as a country. “Let’s vet them thoroughly first”, said Camilla Zatoloski. Susan Collins, R-Maine, said his comments were “inappropriate” with people in Orlando mourning. Sen.
“Because we are facing a brutal enemy, in the Middle East. The Islamic State is attempting genocide of religious and ethnic minorities”. The gunman, 29-year-old Omar Mateen, reportedly pledged allegiance to the Islamic State terror group.
Neither! Both of them will lead to the destruction of the U.S. This was not radical Islam, this was the U.S. mistake. A surgeon at the hospital treating most victims said the number of fatalities could rise.
Saudi Arabia has repeatedly denounced bombings and shootings carried out in various countries by IS and other extremists. “Where does this stop?” he said.
Police made more arrests outside while barring protesters from crossing a street to confront Trump supporters.
