Incredible rescue of trapped motorcyclist in Dallas
DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) -Dallas police officers, fire fighters and several bystanders pooled their strength to rescue a woman trapped beneath a vehicle after a violent crash.
Witnesses did all they could to help before police arrived, but their attempts were unsuccessful.
“The female motorcyclist was gasping for air as the vehicle was crushing her”, says the DPD.
According to the Dallas Police Department, rescuers tried to use a jack on the auto but it didn’t work.
The feat of human strength took place July 9 at Dallas intersection, the Dallas Police Department wrote on the website. They lifted the vehicle, pulled the victim out … and rushed her to the hospital.
The woman was pinned under the auto and struggling to breathe, Cordova said. “Let’s just lift it up.’ So he kind of, ‘Oh OK.’ and everybody just rushed up”, said Officer Laura Beddow. I told the firefighters, ‘There are enough of us here.
As more officers and bystanders arrived, Beddow says the group made the decision to move the auto with their hands. Dash-cam video captured the incident as this team came together to do the unthinkable.
The man driving the auto will not have any charges filed against him by police, however, he was ticketed at the scene for driving without a license, Cordova said.
The officers who saved her life spoke at Dallas Police Headquarters Thursday.
A statement from the woman’s attorney, which was shared by KDFW reporter Diana Zoga on Twitter, said: ‘At this time she can not provide an interview as her injuries are serious and exhausting.
The woman’s attorney says she’s still recovering, but at home now.
Bates says his client has seen the video of the rescue, but remembers very little of what happened that night. “Dallas should be proud of these great officers and firemen”, said Bates.
