India@69: Has PM Modi Lived Up To His Promises?

This would be the first independence day for Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal and he may possibly visit to watch the parade and march at Red Fort. Preparations has been in full swing, Pakistan will also celebrate their Independence day on 14th of August.

Around 5,000 personnel from the local police, Special Cell and Security wing of the Delhi Police have been deployed while the traffic police will maintain smooth traffic flow.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is no stranger to crowdsourcing, regularly encouraging Indians to submit their thoughts for his monthly radio show “Mann ki Baat”.

Sharpshooters of the NSG are being deployed on the high-rises near the 17th-century fort. PM Modi is also likely to talk about the Monsoon Session in his Independence Day speech.

Two ultra high-resolution cameras will be mounted at the two burjs (towers) of the fort to keep tabs on any suspicious activity within a 5-km radius of the historic monument.

Delhi Police and the paramilitary forces have made all arrangements to ensure total security.

The localities around Red Fort have been sanitised and informers have been deployed to keep a close check.

The venue of celebrations Fort St George, premises of airport, Central and Egmore railway terminals are among the locations where security has been beefed up.

The markets or places of strategic importance are being monitored by thousands of Delhi Police personnel and paramilitary forces. Traffic regulations are also in place around Fort St George.

Similar intense security measures will be put in place in all the state capitals and major cities.
