India vs Australia 2nd Test Day 2: Advantage Australia despite India’s fightback
India and Australia are two quality cricket sides, known for their feisty battles, and the second day of the ongoing Test in Bengaluru on Sunday was a close contest in the 22-yard surface, which showed inconsistent bounce and turn, making scoring hard.
The assist from the pitch was there on offer similar to how it was for the Australian spinners, and Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja bowled beautifully, albeit without the desired results.
Renshaw had a front row view of the verbal spat between rival captains Kohli and Steve Smith on day two of the second Test in Bengaluru, but when the attention turned the Queenslander’s way he couldn’t help but smile.
R Ashwin bowled 41 overs and took one wicket, Ishant Sharma bowled 23 overs and took one wicket, Umesh Yadav bowled 24 overs and took one wicket.
Virat Kohli’s was nearly a constant for the Australians on Day 2 of the second Test between India and Australia at Bengaluru.
He had an ordinary game at Pune where he threw away a good start in the first innings and was trapped leg-before for cheap in the second.
While Australian legend Mark Waugh described Kohli’s last dismissal as “brain fade”, when he misjudged Nathan Lyon’s delivery to depart on a LBW; Hayden feels that it is Smith’s men who have conquered his mind and are creating all the trouble. “Once we got to fifty we had to retire and someone else could come in”, he explained. The fielders were chirpy, and the fast bowlers were breathing fire.
Score: First innings: India: 189 all out in 71.2 overs. We will obviously think about what we could have done better. “We would try to restrict them in another 30-40 runs”, he added.
India are confident they can end a string of batting collapses in their second innings and set Australia a competitive target to chase in the second test, batsman Cheteshwar Pujara said on Sunday.
“When I was batting yesterday Rahul told me that it was getting easier to bat on so I think that’s what we are expecting in the second innings”.
Asked what was plan when he came out to bat, Renshaw said the team wanted to bat as long as possible and wear the Indian bowlers down. We are still enjoying this game. After having lost the first test match with a poor display of cricket, the second test match too seems no different from the last one.
“We have been working on it”, Pujara said.
