Indian Air Force official sacked for ISI links sent to police custody
In a rather shocking incident, an official of the Indian Air Force was arrested by Delhi Police in Punjab yesterday for working as Pakistan’s aide.
“A few serving defence personnel are being pulled into the espionage network through these honey traps”.
Ranjith, who was sacked during IAF’s administrative inquiry, had shared the information in an interview with the woman, who had promised to pay him a fee for the information he provided her.
The official said Ranjith was trapped in the spy ring through an unidentified woman with whom he had begun to chat over Facebook, a social networking site.
Within the anxious situation, Ranjith was fooled with an internet organization from the title Damini McNaught, who pretended to become the government of the British-centered advertising company and stated that she needed Airforce-associated info for articles within their newsmagazine from Ranjith as a swap for pecuniary advantages, said the state. The accused, identified as Ranjit, was posted at Bhatinda, but was dismissed recently after the force came across allegations.
Ranjith allegedly shared Air Force-related information, mostly pertaining to a recent exercise, movements of aircraft and deployment of various units, in exchange for money transferred to his bank account, Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Alok Kumar said. “She deceived him by saying that the information will be published”, said Yadav.
However, the police have not yet been able to ascertain any specific link between Ranjith and the other racket, which were even found to have sources at the office of the Pakistan High Commission in Delhi, the official said.
Five other people, including a serving and a former army personnel and a serving BSF personnel, were arrested earlier this month. Find us on Facebook too!
