Indian arrested in Indonesia for murders of 20 women
A former Indian primary school teacher facing the death penalty in his homeland for the murders of 20 young women has been arrested on the Indonesian resort island of Bali, police said on Monday.
Indonesian media reports said Kumar was an infamous serial killer called “Cyanide Mohan”, who was sentenced to death in India after his 2013 conviction for allegedly killing at least 20 women.
Police continue to hold and interview the Indian while waiting to receive an global extradiction request from India.
Interpol’s website states that Nikalje was born in the Indian city of Mumbai, and was wanted for multiple charges including murder and possession and use of illegal firearms.
Denpasar District Police detective Reinhard Nainggolan told reporters they had information from the Australian Federal Police to detain the man from the Garuda flight that landed at 1.50pm local time on Sunday.
