Indian Employers Most Promising on Hiring in Q1 2016
The Manpower Employment Outlook Survey asks more than 2,000 British employers whether they intend to increase or cut down the size of their workforces, with a positive result indicating that more bosses intend to hire than fire.
She added: “However, in previous quarters the jobs market in Grangemouth has suffered, but, in line with the overall positive mood in Scotland, we are encouraged to see some demand for industrial expertise this quarter”. Sectors like public administration, transportation and utilities, education, retail and wholesale trade are expected to grow and prospects of hiring in these sectors are high. “Most employers are continuing to exercise caution and are refraining from large-scale hiring in the hopes that they see meaningful indicators of a market upturn following the Lunar New Year holiday”. The agriculture, forestry and fishing sector had the biggest year-on-year growth, however, up 14 percentage points to an outlook of +11%.
In regional terms, the employers in the Center and North-West regions remained the country’s most optimistic, for the second consecutive quarter.
“Economic growth expectations have come down in some global markets, but in many cases are consistent with hiring outlooks a year ago”, Prising said.
With the government pledging to increase spending on cyber-security, professionals with the right qualifications and experience are well positioned to ride a wave of investment.
“After a year of above average hiring intentions in the East, it’s great news for the region that this trend is set to continue into the New Year”.
Manpower said that in the United Kingdom as a whole, confidence was high in the business and finance services sector and high-tech areas such as cyber security.
Many ManpowerGroup operations corroborate the recent Talent Shortage Survey and report that employers continue to be frustrated by their inability to source specific talents-including IT, engineering and many skilled trades. Compared with previous year at this time, outlooks improve in 19 countries and territories, weaken in 18 and are unchanged in five. The Net employment Outlook in this sector is at +23%, this being the strongest figure registered since the fourth quarter of 2012. That’s the strongest first-quarter hiring outlook since 2007, Manpower officials said. Both the Denver and statewide outlook are stronger than the current quarter with the Denver outlook also stronger than the first quarter of 2015 while the statewide outlook was weaker than a year earlier.
