Indian govt to launch its own operating system for official use
According to stories, the Indian authorities will launch the newest model of BOSS to substitute Microsoft Windows and all different OSs in future.
The newly and highly improved version of operating system (OS), Bharat Operating System Solution (BOSS), which was initially developed in 2007 by National Resource Centre for Free/Open Source Software (NRCFOSS) of India.
Government officials have reported that the system will be unveiled and discusses in an internal meeting in union home ministry during this week. A senior official within the government claims it’s been tested out for the past three months by various departments and has proven successful against attacks.
But, with the development of this new OS India can take care of such matters because of its good protection for the individual computers as well as the networking. The latest version of BOSS was released in 2013, after that it is said to have undergone many changes to fit the process.
The current version of BOSS is an update over its 2007-predecessor, that lacked user-friendly features and speedier upgrades. Software developers are further working on enhancing the overall experience.
Available in over 18 languages, the new OS has been adopted to overcome India’s vulnerability to cyber-attacks both from within and outside the country.
It is considered that new operating system will be giving tough competition to other operating systems like Microsoft Windows, which is now dominating Indian operating system market.
The version of the software due to be rolled out to government systems this week was developed by the DRDO, Gujarat Technical University as well as several private individuals.
Indian Government will be also launching next version of operating system called EduBOSS, which is designed for teachers and students and will be having all essential educational tools and applications required by students of primary, secondary and higher levels.
