Indian Muslims Condemn ISIS After Brutal Paris Attack
Along with the rest of the country, the Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind took out a rally in the city in protest against the recent terror attacks in Paris by ISIS-affiliated terrorists. “Waging “jihad” is a positive act meant to root out evils from the society, not killing innocent people”, he had said during a press conference here.
Maulana Mahmood Madani, the general secretary of the Jamiat, said there was no place for such heinous acts in a civilised world.
“Muslim religious leaders in India have always condemned the killing of innocent people by the IS and other terror outfits and had called it un-Islamic”, he said, citing how over 1,000 Muslim clerics and organisations had issued a fatwa against the IS in September.
“They (IS) claim they are waging a jihad and represent the real face of Islam”.
“Terrorists have spread a painful atmosphere for Muslims across the world and terror activities are being used as a pretext to attack Islam”. He added that India is safe for the Muslims staying here adding that they will continue contributing towards Indian economy irrespective of what US President Barack Obama says.
The Muslim leader also asked powerful nations to stop providing patronage to terror groups.
The Muslims should declare a jihad (holy war) against terrorism as radicals and zealots have unleashed a reign of terror that challenges the basic tenets of Islam, which propagates and promotes peace and harmony, an Islamic scholar said on Tuesday.
